Common Questions About Therapy

  • Getting started is simple. You can head over to our Contact page or give us a call at (999-999-9999). We’ll walk you through the next steps—whether that’s booking a free 15-minute consultation or setting up your first session. If you're not sure where to begin, we’re here to help you figure it out.

  • Yes—we offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to help you decide if therapy with us feels like a good fit. It’s a chance to briefly talk about what’s bringing you in, ask any questions you may have, and get a sense of how we can support you. There’s no pressure to commit—just a supportive first step toward feeling better.

You can book your consultation through our Contact page or by calling us at (999-999-9999).

  • A standard session is scheduled for 50 minutes.

  • That’s completely okay—feeling nervous or unsure at the beginning is incredibly common. Starting therapy is a big step, and you don’t need to have it all figured out to begin.

We’re here to meet you wherever you are, without judgment. You can go at your own pace, and we’ll help guide the process so you don’t feel alone in it. Just showing up is enough to start.

  • The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, explore some of your history, and start identifying your goals.

You can expect thoughtful questions asked with care and curiosity, and together we’ll begin creating a plan that feels supportive and tailored to you.

  • Each session is 50 minutes long. Most people start with weekly sessions to build momentum and consistency, and we can always adjust the frequency over time based on your needs, goals, and what feels most supportive.

  • Yes — confidentiality is a fundamental part of the therapeutic relationship. What’s shared in therapy is private and protected by law, and no information will be shared without your written consent.

There are a few legal exceptions to confidentiality, such as situations involving serious risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse of a child, elder, or dependent adult, or if required to comply with a court order.

These limits will be reviewed during your first session, so you’ll always know where your privacy stands and can feel secure in the space we create together.

  • The length of therapy varies from person to person and depends on your goals, needs, and the challenges you’re navigating.

Some people find relief after just a few sessions, especially when they feel heard and supported. For others, deeper or longer-term work may be needed to create lasting change. There’s no set timeline—therapy is a process, and we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you.

  • We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice—or missed sessions without notice—will be charged the full session fee.

This policy helps protect time and availability for all clients.
